June 1st marks the beginning of Pride Month. In June 1969, the Stonewall riots became a catalyst for the emerging gay rights movement after the NYPD raided the Stonewall Inn. The protests and political activism that followed would be the beginning of the gay rights movement in this country and the world.
During Pride Month the world’s LGBTQ communities come together to mark their struggle to overcome prejudice and mistreatment and celebrate the freedom to be themselves.
There will be numerous events and celebrations around Montgomery County and the Philadelphia region.
The Lansdale Borough Police Department wants to wish everyone a Safe and Happy Pride Month!!
