LANSDALE BOROUGH- Monday Night, Chief Trail had the honor of attending a celebration of the life and accomplishments of Doctor Frank E. Boston. Dr. Boston was a WWI veteran, pioneering African American physician and the founder of Elm Terrace Hospital, which is known today as Jefferson Lansdale Hospital. Dr. Boston also founded the Lansdale First Aid Corps, which today is known as Volunteer Medical Corps of Lansdale or VMSC. Dr. Boston established many important medical services for the community and contributed greatly to the health and wellbeing of people living in the North Penn region.
In honor of Dr. Boston the main lobby at Jefferson Lansdale Hospital has been named for him and a portrait, which was revealed at this event, will also hang in the lobby bearing his name.
Dr. Boston will be celebrated during the 2022 EMS Week at the WWI Memorial in Washington DC. EMS Week starts May 20, 2022.
