LANSDALE BOROUGH- The Lansdale Borough Police Department (LPD) is committed to maintaining a high level of protection and service for all members of our community. As part of this commitment, we are proud to introduce the Occupant with Autism Program — a voluntary initiative designed to assist emergency responders in identifying when a person with autism may be present in a home or vehicle.
Purpose of the Program
The goal of the program is to enhance the safety and well-being of individuals with autism by alerting first responders to the presence of an occupant who may have difficulty communicating, responding to verbal commands, or may be easily overwhelmed in emergency situations.
Through this program, LPD officers can apply their specialized autism training to approach these situations with heightened awareness and sensitivity.
How It Works
LPD is offering free decals to any community member who would like to participate. These decals can be placed:
The presence of these decals serves as a visual cue to emergency personnel that someone with autism may be inside, allowing for a more informed and supportive response.
How to Obtain a Decal
Decals are available for pick-up 8a-5p, at the Lansdale Borough Police Department. Stop by at your convenience to request one for your home, vehicle, or both.
