On 9/29/2020 at 1056hrs Officers responded to the Home Depot at 295 Armand Hammer Blvd for a theft report. Officers arrived and were informed by the Home Depot Loss Prevention that one of their employees, later identified as Mohamed Elbahwati of Pottstown, was stealing money from the register. Elbahwati had been caught on camera concealing the money and placing it in his pocket. The investigation revealed that Elbahwati took about $393.50.
Elbahwati was placed in custody and faces theft charges. He was transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility. He was later arraigned and released on unsecured bail.
On 10/3/2020 at 1333hrs Officers responded to the Home Depot at 295 Armand Hammer Blvd. for a theft in progress. While enroute Officers were provided with a description of the fleeing male suspect. Officers were able to locate the male, later identified as Michael Metz of Pottstown, on Armand Hammer near Medical Drive. Metz was placed in custody without incident.
Officers were informed by the Home Depot Loss Prevention Officer that Metz entered the store and filled a shopping cart with landscaping tools and other merchandise. He then departed the store without paying for the items. He was stopped by Loss Prevention, but fled from the store. Metz had attempted to steal about $1,600 worth of merchandise.
Additionally, Officers were informed by the Home Depot Loss Prevention Officer that on October 1, 2020 METZ entered the store riding one of their electric scooters. Once inside the store Metz placed items into the scooter, and then drove out of the store without paying for the merchandise. Metz then drove the scooter off the store property with the stolen merchandise. On this day Metz got away with $198 worth of merchandise.
Metz was transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility for processing and housing. He faces felony and misdemeanor charges of retail theft, as well as related theft charges. He was arraigned and released on unsecured bail.
