This year we celebrate Lieutenant Scott Smith and Sergeant William Hochwind on their twenty years of service with the Lower Moreland Twp Police Department!
Lieutenant Smith started his career with the Department as a Patrol Officer in 2003. He has held the roles of Firearms Instructor and was head of the Firearms Training program, Field Training Officer and ran the Field Training Program, and has been a Certified Car Seat Technician for the Department. He rose through the ranks as a Patrol Sergeant, Detective Sergeant, and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in 2019.
Several days later in 2003, Sergeant Hochwind started his career as a patrol officer. He has also served as a Field Training Officer and was promoted to Sergeant in 2017. Sergeant Hochwind is one of the department's Firearms Instructors and is now head of the Firearms Training Program. He has been a member of the Montgomery County SWAT-East Region team for 17 years. On the SWAT team, he is one of two trained Explosive Breachers as well as a Certified Active Shooter Response Instructor. He was also the baton instructor for the department for approximately ten years.
The Lower Moreland Police Department is grateful for these two men and their dedication to this department and community. From community policing, to training new recruits and current officers, they exemplify the core values of the Lower Moreland Township Police Department.
