This week is known as Child Passenger Safety Week, taking place from September 21st to 27th, 2025. This national awareness campaign aims to educate parents, caregivers, and the community on the importance of properly securing children in vehicles to prevent injuries and fatalities.
Motor vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death among children in the United States. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2020, 608 children under the age of 13 were killed in motor vehicle crashes, and more than 91,000 were injured. Proper use of child restraints and seat belts can significantly reduce the risk of injury or death.
During Child Passenger Safety Week, our department will be providing resources and information to help families ensure their children are safely secured in vehicles. We encourage all parents and caregivers to take the following steps:
