We would like to take a minute to thank and show our appreciation to the 911 dispatchers and police clerks that serve us at LMPD every day. Telecommunicators, often called dispatchers, are the people you talk to when you call 911.
Sometimes it seems they are asking too many questions without asking why you are calling 911. This is an important step in getting first responders to your location as quickly as possible. The more you tell them, the better it helps police, fire, and EMS to prepare for what to expect when they arrive on location. Please be patient with them, as they are doing their best to keep calm and get you the help that you need.
All 911 centers, including emergency communications centers (ECCs), public safety answering points (PSAPs), public safety communications centers (PSCCs), emergency operations centers (EOCs), and other public safety command centers, are a critical component of emergency communications and provide critical, life-saving emergency services to the public.
Again, a big THANK YOU goes out to our telecommunications personnel across the nation who serve our communities, citizens, and public safety personnel 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
