Apple’s new ‘AirTags’ have recently been released to help consumers better track their belongings, like keys, wallets, etc. While this sounds great to those individuals who are always scrambling looking for their things, it is also used as a stalking device for criminals.
Imagine being out at the grocery store, movies, or mall and receiving a notification on your phone saying you’re being tracked. Every step is being tracked. That’s scary!
Across the U.S., people have been reporting suspicious activity where an Apple AirTag is being used to track them, to potentially victimize the person by taking their vehicle, burglarizing their home, or any other illegal/criminal activity. This is not what the AirTag is meant to be used for!
This is a reminder to please be aware of your surroundings. If you see anything suspicious, please dial 911.
