Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Check Fraud

Please be aware of Pandemic Unemployment Assistance Check  and Direct Deposit Fraud / Scams that are occurring.

If you receive a paper check in the mail or a direct deposit of funds and did not file for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA) in Pennsylvania you should not cash the checks or use the funds. Cashing these checks knowing that you have not applied for Pandemic Unemployment Assistance or any other Unemployment Compensation program may be deemed fraud and repayment will be required.

You can use the Identity Theft Form at (https://www.dlisecureweb.pa.gov/FRTS/IdentityTheft.aspx) to report when someone has filed for Unemployment Compensation benefits using your bank account, address, or personal information such as your name, social security number, and date of birth without your knowledge or consent.

If you have received a PUA paper check or a PUA direct deposit and believe it is a scam, please contact the Hatfield Township Police Department at 215-855-0903 for more information on how to properly report and return the checks or funds.
