
Bike Unit

The Hatfield Township Police Department Bike Unit was founded in 1995. In the beginning, the unit consisted of three Officers utilizing two bicycles. Over the past few years, the unit has grown to eight trained Officers. The Officers assigned to the Bike Unit have completed specialized training and certification through the International Police Mountain Bike Association. The Bike Unit normally operates from April through October weather permitting. The Police bike allow Officers to patrol the community from a closer vantage point and makes them more approachable. The bikes are used for routine residential and business patrols, crowd control, and special events.
