ADMINISTRATIVE DIVISION

The Administrative Division consists of dispatch personnel, clerical staff, and staff services. These personnel are utilized to assist officers in the execution of their duties.

DETECTIVE DIVISION

The Detective Division is responsible for complex criminal investigations, juvenile matters, crime scene processing, and the handling of evidence.

PATROL DIVISION

Officers assigned to the Patrol Division respond to all emergency and non-emergency calls for service within Montgomery Township. Officers assigned to the Division also utilize proactive policing activities such as traffic enforcement and criminal detection patrol in order to protect life and property.

BIKE PATROL UNIT

The Bicycle Patrol Unit is utilized to address issues in noted locations that have a need for a highly mobile non-traditional police response.

CANINE UNIT

The Canine Unit consists of four canine teams. Teams are trained to search buildings and locate subjects. Teams are also cross-trained to detect illegal drugs or explosives.

HIGHWAY SAFETY UNIT

The Highway Safety Unit is responsible for the investigation of all serious traffic crashes, traffic studies, and citizen traffic complaints. Officers are scheduled during periods of peak traffic volume since these time periods are when the majority of traffic crashes occur.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY MAJOR INCIDENT RESPONSE TEAM (MIRT)

Officers from the Department are part of the Montgomery County Major Incident Response Team (MIRT). MIRT is a multi-jurisdictional team of officers from Montgomery County Police Departments that are trained and equipped for incidents requiring crowd control, perimeter security, and other large-scale events.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY SWAT CENTRAL REGION

Officers from the Department are part of a regionalized SWAT team staffed, trained, and equipped to respond to high-risk situations involving armed individuals that are beyond the capabilities of traditional law enforcement.
