The Hatboro Police Department is proud to offer K9 services to the residents of Hatboro. The K9 Unit program began in 2019 with the late Officer Ryan Allen and his partner, K9 Louie. Sadly, Officer Allen passed away in 2022 and K9 Louie has since been partnered with Officer Michael Thompson.
K9 Louie is a German Shepherd who was born in 2018. Officer Thompson and K9 Louie underwent extensive training together at the Penn Vet Working Dog Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a result of this training, K9 Louie is a fully trained narcotics and patrol canine that can detect the odor of controlled substances as well as aide officers in the searches for and apprehensions of offenders.
Officer Thompson and K9 Louie have been utilized in Hatboro as well as surrounding jurisdictions numerous times which has resulted in the seizure of various amounts of controlled substances as well as currency derived from illicit activities.
The K9 Unit is funded mainly by generous donations from the community and would not be possible without the support of the community. Thank you for your support and when you see Officer Thompson and K9 Louie out on patrol come and say HI!
