We're just over one month into the 2024-2025 school year and the Upper Moreland Police Department remains steadfast in keeping our kids safe. The Upper Moreland Traffic Safety Unit has stopped over 340 cars for speeding in our school zones since the beginning of the academic year. Through our BusPatrol program, over 400 additional citations have been filed for motorists that have failed to stop for school buses while they were loading or unloading children. Both of these violations result in heavy fines and penalties to the vehicle driver or registered owner.
We can't do this alone - we need your help! Spread the word, have conversations with your friends and family, and share this post to better inform our community about the dangers of both speeding through a school zone and school bus safety.
Some reminders:
The video below is a school bus violation from the streets of Upper Moreland Township that could have put the safety of a school student at risk. Please remember that a stopped school bus with its red lights activated could be loading students from either side of the street. ALWAYS STOP FOR SCHOOL BUSES!
