Counterfeit Currency Case Hits Huntingdon Valley

On October 12, 2022 at 5:26 PM, the Upper Moreland Police Department was dispatched to the Market Place Shopping Center (MPSC) in Huntingdon Valley for a subject passing a counterfeit $100 bill. The subject was able to pass the bill at the above hair salon for the purchase of 1 bottle of shampoo. Twenty (20) minutes later, the subject attempted to pass a counterfeit bill at another hair salon in the MPSC but was unsuccessful. The subject left the store with the $100 bill. Approximately thirty (30) minutes later, the subject attempted to pass the bill at the Rite Aid in the MPSC.

Pictured is the suspect who passed the bill at the Taire Hair Salon. It is believed that this black male could have been with two (2) other black males of similar age and build. The other black males were described to have “dreads” who waited outside of the store/s.  If anyone can identify the above suspect and/or has other information concerning this incident, please contact Officer William J.
