The Upper Merion Township Police Department will provide crash reports in accordance with the provisions of the Pennsylvania Vehicle Code, Title 75, section 3751 (b), Reports by Police. A copy of the crash report can be provided to any person involved in the accident, or to their attorney or insurer. The report fee must be paid prior to release of the report. It should be noted that Upper Merion Police can refuse to release the crash report if it involves any potential criminal charges.
All other police reports can be requested through the Records Division. If approved for release, the recipient will be provided a summary report. The summary report is a very basic synopsis of the incident itself, and not the entire police report. There is a fee for reports or records that are approved, which must be received prior to the release.
The Upper Merion Township Police Department adheres to the rules governing the release of official documents listed under the Pennsylvania Criminal History Records Information Act (CHRIA) and the Pennsylvania Open Records or Right-to-Know law.
Please call our Records Division at 610-265-0383, or email them at records@umtownship.org for report information or fee questions.
