On Tuesday August 26, 2025 at approximately 6:30 AM, Upper Merion and Bridgeport Police responded to the area of the Sacred Heart Church (located at 120 Jefferson Street) in the Swedesburg section of Upper Merion Township for a report of a male grabbing a female student at the bus stop. A 14 year old Upper Merion High School Student was waiting for the bus in this area when she was approached by an unknown male. The male walked up to her and grabbed the female's arm.
The female student was able to free herself and run away to escape. While running away, she alertly contacted her mother on the phone about what happened. With the description provided by the student and witnesses, Upper Merion and Bridgeport officers were able to quickly locate the suspect near the intersection of Holstein and Coates streets.
The 36 year old male, with a last known address in Norristown, was taken into custody without incident. He was charged with Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct and Harassment.
He was eventually transported to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility where he was arraigned and bail was set at $5,000 cash.
The male was unable to post bail and will be held pending a preliminary hearing in the coming days.
