The Horsham Police Department comprises four major divisions with specific areas of responsibility for each division. 
 

Patrol Division 

The Patrol Division is the largest unit and actively patrols all areas of the Township 24 hours per day. The officers in the Patrol Division respond to calls for police services and provide traffic-related duties, including enforcement activities. 

The patrol division is the most visible to the community, as they are responsible for enforcing the laws of the state and township. The patrol division also provides traffic enforcement, accident investigation, and crime prevention activities. The patrol division is also responsible for responding to and working with the residents, businesses and civic leaders of the community to build strong relationships that will enhance the quality of life we have come to know. 

Patrol officers respond to every call received from a citizen, and those calls range from a lost dog to a homicide, and everything in between. They place their lives before those they serve and will do whatever is needed to ensure the safety of every citizen.
 

Criminal Investigation Division 

The Criminal Investigation Division acts as the primary investigative unit for all major case incidents occurring within the Township. 

These types of cases include but are not limited to homicide, rape, robbery, arson, fraud, and violations of drug laws. The Detectives are well trained and experienced in investigating felonies, misdemeanors and summary crimes. The Detective Unit works closely with other investigative agencies at the federal, state and local levels in the investigation of criminal activity and the prosecution of criminal offenders. It is the mission of the Horsham Township Police Department’s Detective Division to provide a professional full service criminal investigative body to ensure the thorough and complete investigation of all criminal matters.
 

Highway Safety Unit 

The Traffic Safety Unit enforces the Pennsylvania motor vehicle code within the township by patrolling roadways within this jurisdiction, monitoring and investigating complaints from citizens about the behaviors of drivers, pedestrians, and bicyclists, and participating in statewide aggressive driver and seatbelt awareness programs. The unit is comprised of a sergeant and four officers. Two members of the traffic unit are certified motor carrier enforcement officers, who participate in the Motor Carrier Safety Assistance Program (MCSAP). This multi-jurisdictional team of state and local police officers inspects commercial vehicles that travel along state highways in the southeastern portion of the Commonwealth. Some of the equipment utilized by the traffic unit includes, certified speed timing devices (Accutrak, ENRADD, and VASCAR), radar devices (flashing speed limit signs, speed advisory trailers, and radar operated traffic counters), and certified scales and nearby scale houses, which are used to enforce weight restrictions on commercial vehicles. Additionally, the traffic unit compiles statistics on the volume and average speed of vehicles that travel through the township when an inquiry is made about specific roadways. 

Services Division 

The Services Division is composed of the Records and Communications Bureaus. The Communications Bureau coordinates all radio and telephone services for the Police Department. The Records Bureau maintains the records of all traffic and police incidents which have been reported. Copies of Police Reports or Accident Reports can be obtained from the Records Bureau between the hours of 7:00 AM. and 6:00 PM. Monday through Friday, unless the township is closed for a holiday. After 3:00 PM exact cash is required. Call the station at 215-643-8284 first to make sure the report is ready. Accident reports cost $15.00 each. All other reports are $0.25 per page ($0.50 per page if information must be redacted from the record). If mailing is requested, the cost of postage will be charged. Fax copies will be available at cost of $0.50 per page faxed. Specialized documents, blue prints, color copies, non-standard sized documents, CD, Disk and any other media will be actual cost. If a Certification of Record is requested, a charge of $1.00 will be added. The Township will require prepayment if the total fees are estimated to exceed $100.00.
