The Ambler Borough Police Department and multiple surrounding departments have been receiving reports of money scams. The caller/victim reports that they received a call from someone stating that it was their grandchild. The scammer (pretending to be grandchild) tells the victim that they have been arrested and need bail money. They direct the victim to go to the bank and withdraw cash or in some cases get gift cards from a local CVS. Several of the local scams have requested the victim get cash out of the bank which the victim did not realizing it was a scam. The scammer will provide a telephone number and have the victim call them once they withdraw the money. It is believed that the scammers are in close proximity to the victims residence so they are in the immediate area to pick up the money.
**PLEASE REACH OUT TO YOUR ELDERLY FAMILY MEMBERS AND INFORM THEM THAT THIS IS A SCAM. ALSO IF YOU SEE SUSPICIOUS VEHICLES IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD PLEASE CALL THE POLICE**
