On August 10, 2018, the Upper Providence Township Police Department began an investigation into a violation of the Uniform Firearms Act which occurred at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center, located at 100 Station Avenue, Oaks, PA 19456 on May 19, 2018. The actor, identified as Sandra Sanders of Erie, Pennsylvania, attempted to purchase two firearms during a gun show being held at the Expo Center. As a normal part of the application process, the vendor utilized the Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) which identified Sanders as an individual who is prohibited from acquiring and possessing a firearm. At the time of the attempted purchase, it was determined that Sanders had an active warrant for her arrest, was under indictment for an ongoing criminal case and had a felonious criminal history. These factors categorized Sanders as a State and Federal prohibitor and unable to posses or acquire the firearms.
On October 15, 2018 Upper Providence Detectives secured an arrest warrant for Sanders, who was subsequently taken into custody by the Erie Police Department on October 28, 2018.
