Our officers spend much of their shifts patrolling your neighborhoods. We recognize that nothing is more valuable to our residents than your family's safety. One thing that we run into frequently at night are open garage doors. Early on Saturday morning Officers Romanowicz and Lighthart found just such a garage door. They checked things out and spoke to the homeowner who closed the door. The next day the homeowner posted a snippet of the Ring camera video along with this note:
"Salute to the dedicated officers
It was midnight. The officers were on patrol and found my garage door was left open (I forgot to close it during the day). They were very kind to do a quick check on the surroundings and ringed my doorbell to wake us up so we can close it. Feels safe with dedicated people like them around us during this chaotic time. Thank you!"
While we are talking about your personal camera systems, we are working hard to create what we are calling a "Camera Registry". The primary goal is to have an idea who in the township has cameras so that in the event of a nearby crime we might be able contact them to see if they will share their video with us. This COMPLETELY VOLUNTARY and CONFIDENTIAL program is a great way that you can partner with us to help you solve crimes in your very own neighborhood.
When needed, the Upper Gwynedd Township Police Department may contact you to view your video. We value your privacy and security and want to be clear that at no time will law enforcement have access to a live feed or your secured video without authorization. This is ONLY a way for us to know who might have video that could help out.
This is a free, easy, and effective way for you to take an active roll in protecting your family and neighbors.
