Lower Pottsgrove Twp PD responded to 2148 E. High St for the report of a motor vehicle accident. Officers arrived and found one vehicle had struck a utility pole in front of the new Moove In Storage facility. The vehicle Operator, Abdelrahman Abdelhamed age 24 of Skippack Montgomery County, was the only occupant of the vehicle. Abdelhamaed stated he did not remember what happened. Abdelhamed stated he was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. Goodwill EMS was called to evaluate Adelhamed but he declined medical treatment on scene.
The investigation found that Abdelhamed was eastbound on E. High St. when for an undetermined reason his vehicle left the roadway and went onto the curb in front of 2148 E. High St. sideswiping a utility pole, knocking over a street light and its concrete base. The vehicle then came back onto the roadway after striking a road construction sign then veered back over the curb to impact with a second utility pole stopping the vehicle. The vehicle sustained heavy damage in the crash. A small fire started in the engine compartment but it was quickly extinguished by officers using a fire extinguisher from their patrol vehicle. Both utility poles remained standing and PECO and Verizon were notified to check on the poles. Sanatoga Auto Body responded to remove the vehicle. Police were assisted on scene by Goodwill Ambulance and Sanatoga Fire department.
