Strong Arm Robbery / Pursuit

At approximately 09:50 AM on May 7, 2018 police responded to Landis Supermarket, 2190 E High Street, to investigate a strong arm robbery.  A female customer had been in the parking lot loading groceries into her car when a W/M subject approached her. He offered to help load groceries into her car.  The male subject then grabbed the victims purse from her and fled in a black sedan, last seen driving west on E High Street.  Victim sustained minor injuries to her hand.  Victim and witnesses provided a solid description of the car including a registration plate number.  At approximately 11:09 AM police conducting the investigation encountered the suspect vehicle in the Maple Glenn Village development.  As undercover officers attempted to stop the vehicle the suspect fled at a high rate of speed and short pursuit was initiated by several Lower Pottsgrove officers.  The suspect fled west on High Street and then tried to elude police by entering the CVS parking lot.  After nearly striking a patrol unit head on, the suspect fled back onto High Street.  Out of concern for public safety, police discontinued the pursuit.  A short while later officers again encountered the suspect vehicle and took the suspect into custody.  The investigation is still active.  More details will be released once charges are filed.
