Pottsgrove Student Posts Threats Creating Scare

On Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at approximately 12:00 noon, Pottsgrove High School Administration was alerted to a threat that was posted to an anonymous online app. The threat indicated a shooting would occur, but was non-descriptive and unsubstantiated. School Administration immediately contacted the School Resource Officer and an investigation began. Lower Pottsgrove Police worked with School Administration and additional security was promptly put into place. Due to the nature of the threat and information available to authorities early on, it was determined there was no need to evacuate or close the school. The additional security measures were kept in place as the investigation progressed.
At approximately 3:00 PM today (May 2, 2019) police identified the source of the threat.
Although the investigation is ongoing, there is no immediate threat to the school. A juvenile student is now in custody.
The Pottsgrove School District continues to work in partnership with the police department to ensure the safety and well being of all student and staff.
No further information will be released as the case is still active and it involves juveniles.
