Lower Pottsgrove Police Officer involved in crash
At approximately 3:15 PM on Friday, September 6, 2019, Lower Pottsgrove Police Officer Scott Bond was involved in an on-duty crash at the intersection of Armand Hammer Boulevard at the Eastbound entrance ramp to 422 by-pass. Ofc. Bond was on routine patrol, exiting the Tri-County Business complex at 1000 Armand Hammer Boulevard. The officer was traveling Northbound facing a green traffic signal as he approached the intersection with the Eastbound entrance ramp to Route 422 by-pass. Ofc. Bond was driving a marked 2018 Dodge Charger patrol unit. As the officer entered the intersection a Southbound vehicle, driven by Michael Quill, age 27 of Pottstown, PA, made a left in front of the oncoming patrol unit to turn to enter 422 Eastbound resulting int he collision. Quill was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra.
Both operators sustained minor injuries. Ofc. Bond was transported to Pottstown Hospital where he was treated and released from arm and neck injuries. Quill was evaluated by EMS on scene. Both vehicles sustained major disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Traffic on Armand Hammer Boulevard and the entrance/exit ramp to 422 were closed during the accident investigation and re-opened about 30 minutes later. The accident is being investigated by Limerick Township Police Department since it involved a township officer.
