Disturbance - Pottsgrove HIgh School
At Approximately 10:41 a.m. today, Police responded to a disturbance at Pottsgrove High School. Investigation revealed an altercation involving students erupted outside the cafeteria where students were getting off the Western Center morning vo-tech bus and the cafeteria was being dismissed from lunch. The disturbance involved multiple fights and a large number of students. The school staff, security and the School Resource Officer were immediately on-scene and requested additional assistance prompting police response from Lower Pottsgrove Township Police Department.
Six (7) students were detained and criminal charges are being filed. One (1) juvenile was arrested and transported to Juvenile Probation for charges related to the disturbance as well as assault on the School Resource Officer. The officer was kicked in the face during the incident and sustained a minor hand injury trying to control them.
Lower Pottsgrove Police Department initially responded and helped maintain order. Additional police resources were requested from Upper and West Pottsgrove Townships to maintain a presence, along with school security, during student lunches to prevent secondary disturbances. No serious injuries were reported by students or school personnel.
This investigation is ongoing and additional charges will be filed on other individuals involved.
