On June 28, 2022, at approximately 0211 hours, Officers were traveling eastbound on the 100 block of Byberry Road when they observed a dark colored SUV traveling in the oncoming lane. The SUV passed officers at a high rate of speed which appeared greater that the posted 25 MPH speed zone. Officers observed the SUV cross the double yellow lanes with both left tires. A traffic stop was initiated at the intersection of Byberry Road and Glen Way.
The vehicle was occupied by the sole occupant, Roland Ismailanji. Officers noticed Ismailanji did not wear his seat belt at the time of the stop. Later, it was observed the seat belt was fastened, and Ismailanji was sitting on it. It was later learned that Ismailanji’s driver’s license was suspended. Ismailanji could not provide the insurance, but was able to show officer’s an email stating the vehicle’s coverage was paid.
Officers observed that Ismailanji had glassy eyes and his movements were lethargic. An alcoholic smell was emanating from his breath. Ismailanji admitted to consuming alcohol. Believing Ismailanji was intoxicated on alcohol, officers asked him out of his vehicle and requested him to submit to Standardized Field Sobriety Tests (SFST).
After further investigation, Officers believed Ismailanji was under the influence of alcohol to a degree that rendered him unsafe to operate a motor vehicle. Ismailanji was placed under arrest.
CRIMINAL CHARGES, AND ANY DISCUSSION THEREFORE, ARE MERELY ALLEGATIONS AND ALL DEFENDENTS ARE PRESUMED INNOCENT UNTIL AND UNLESS PROVEN GUILTY.
