On June 30th, 2022, officers responded to 2510 Huntingdon Pike for a report of an auto accident involving two vehicles. Upon arrival, a gray Toyota sedan had disabling damage to the front passenger tire, quarter panel, hood, and front bumper. The curtain airbags were deployed, and fluids were leaking from the vehicle. The gray Toyota was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and appeared to have come into contact with the telephone pole directly in front of 2519 Huntingdon Pike.
The driver, identified as Michael Ciepiela, was standing in the driver's side door of the vehicle. Ciepiela stated he was wearing his seatbelt and didn't remember what happened; his eyes were closed, and he woke up to a loud crash after striking the telephone pole. Officers noticed an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his expelled breath, his eyes were glassy and bloodshot, and he spoke with a thick tongue.
Ciepiela was walked to the ambulance and transported to the hospital.
Upon receiving the toxicology report from the labs for Ciepiela's DUI blood draw, showing positive findings of alcohol, officers filed charges for the listed offenses.
